LIGNITI ARCHITECTURAL FAÇADE SOLUTION

Levolux designed and supplied a bespoke Ligniti architectural façade for a multi-story parking garage at the San Antonio Center in Mountain View, California.
Levolux joined the project at the concept design stage to help develop a striking screening solution for a multi-story parking garage at the San Antonio Center in Mountain View, California. Our team collaborated closely with architects and contractors to refine the design and deliver a system that met both functional and aesthetic goals.
The challenge was to create a façade that provided effective screening while complementing the center’s modern architecture. Levolux responded with a bespoke solution based on its Ligniti architectural system, known for its durability, versatility, and sleek appearance. This approach allowed for precise customization, ensuring the design aligned perfectly with the client’s vision.
This case study explores the design process, technical details, and the innovative features that make this project a standout example of architectural screening in a high-traffic urban environment.

Levolux received CGIs illustrating the scope and complexity of the solution for a 1,300-bay, 25,000-square-foot parking garage at the San Antonio Center. The Ligniti system needed to do more than screen the structure and allow airflow—it also had to meet a unique aesthetic challenge. International Parking Design, a leading architectural firm specializing in parking structures, envisioned the building draped in a silk sheet across all four elevations.

The Levolux design team embraced the challenge and turned this concept into reality. Using the supplied CGIs, they custom-designed each panel in sequence to create the desired crease effect in the “silk sheet.” They worked in AutoCAD 3D to quickly visualize the look and ensure structural integrity, secure connections to the substructure, efficient manufacturing, easy installation, and cost control.
Levolux collaborated closely with project stakeholders, including the general contractor DevCon and specialist contractor BT Mancini, to meet the client’s exact brief. The team even supplied mock-up panels so stakeholders could review the system before finalizing the design and moving into production.
In total, Levolux designed and manufactured 1,800 shaped Ligniti profiles. Each was precision-cut using water jet technology to achieve striking elliptical edges that brought the concept to life. Every profile was finished in a silver-gray polyester powder coating to complete the aesthetic.
Levolux delivers value by solving technical challenges, developing cost-effective solutions, and managing risk. As this project shows, that value is greatest when Levolux is involved from concept design through to practical completion.
