Skyvane Roof Solar Shading System

A new 300,000-square-foot BMW showroom in Grapevine, Texas now features an eye-catching external sun shading system designed and supplied by Levolux.
The new 300,000-square-foot BMW showroom in Grapevine, Texas needed more than style—it required a practical solution to shield staff, visitors, and vehicles from intense sunlight. A roof sun shading system, or Brise Soleil, was essential to maintain comfort and protect the showroom’s premium inventory. Levolux was invited to design a cost-effective external shading solution that combined performance with visual impact. Working closely with the project team, Levolux delivered a custom system that enhances energy efficiency while complementing the building’s sleek architectural design.

The Brise Soleil system at the new BMW showroom in Texas features a bold, high-level canopy that spans the two-story building. This horizontal structure rises 12.5 meters and is supported by 600mm steel columns. It stretches nearly 100 meters in length and 21 meters in depth, creating a striking architectural statement.

Details
Levolux secured 382 extruded aluminum airfoils within a steel grid structure, dividing them into 42 bays. Each airfoil measures 400mm wide and 100mm deep, running east to west with free spans up to 7.2 meters.
All airfoils are set at a 29-degree angle to block southern sunlight. Spacing varies—just 470mm at the south end of the canopy, widening to 1,290mm at the north.
Every aluminum component, including single-piece airfoils, structural end caps, and side plates, is finished in bright white powder coating for a clean, striking look.
