The Westmount, St Helier development provides valuable additional residential capacity on Jersey island, with 245 new homes being created. All apartments benefit from private balconies or roof terraces.
To meet the client’s requirements, Levolux developed six different types of balcony. The shape and size of the Sereniti balconies vary; we supplied the more typical rectangular variety but also created trapezoidal shapes and larger ‘L-shaped’ balconies that extend along two elevations of the penthouse apartments.
Levolux’s involvement on site commenced at an early stage, fixing the first-fix ‘stub’ brackets on to ‘cast-in’ fixings that had been incorporated into the building’s core concrete structure. The brackets were precisely engineered and aligned by Levolux in readiness for the balconies to be fitted after the cladding was in place.
All Sereniti balconies were constructed off site, before being taken to the site just in time for installation. Here, the balconies were craned into position and temporarily rested on a positioning ledge incorporated into each ‘stub’ bracket. The ledge was designed to allow the brackets and corresponding fixing holes to be quickly aligned, before being secured onto the building.
The pre-assembled balcony system specification comprised a steel frame base, composite decking and polyester powder coated aluminium fascia and soffit panels. Glass balustrading and extruded aluminium handrails provided a contemporary finish to each Sereniti balcony system.
