The Bower Building, Stockley Park, London

Skyvane Roof Solar Shading

Levolux was approached to develop a custom external solar shading solution for The Bower Building in Stockley Park comprising of a Skyvane perforated canopy, extending to the west, and Infiniti Aerofoil Fins fixed to the building’s south and west-facing elevations.

The Bower Building – an office building originally constructed in the 1980s – was refurbished to provide open plan office space within Stockley Park on the doorstep of Heathrow Airport.

The Levolux solar shading solutions were an integral part of the overall sustainability strategy for the Bower Building and played an integral role in helping the development to achieve a BREAM “Excellent” rating.

Levolux designed, supplied and installed its Skyvane roof solar shading canopy above the piazza that leads to the entrance of the building.

The canopy shades the piazza and surrounding glazed office areas from direct sunlight, reducing solar heat gain and glare.

The 700m2 canopy, a focal point for the development, was formed using aluminium perforated panels.

The panels were manufactured with four different pattern designs comprising square perforations and were coated with a natural anodised finish.

Levolux also provided a Skyvane brise soleil solution, comprising 3m deep panels of 300mm x 56mm aerofoil profiles.

The panels were applied to the south- and west-facing elevations and installed in both vertical and horizontal arrangements.

The aerofoil profiles were finished in a highly durable, stone grey polyester powder coating, whilst the aluminium side plates were coated with a contrasting light grey polyester powder coated finish.
