Levolux designed, supplied and installed a bespoke trellis-effect LED lit Infiniti façade screening solution for a multi-storey car park at the Merrion Centre in Leeds city centre.
Following a £9 million refurbishment project, the 50-year-old Merrion Centre car park in the centre of Leeds has been dramatically revamped, in part due to a new a custom architectural screening solution from Levolux.

Levolux was invited to develop a custom screening solution for the multi-storey car park at the Merrion Centre in Leeds. Levolux’s solution incorporated two components, the first of which involved screening an area of approximately 160m x 11.5m with Infiniti Aluminium Box Fins. The Infiniti fins were arranged in a diagonal grid pattern to create a trellis effect on the outside of the car park. 100mm x 200mm aluminium box fins were assembled into a lattice structure with LED lighting incorporated at each connection node.
While the ‘diagrid’ screen is relatively open to maximise daylight levels on each floor and allow good outward visibility for occupants, an alternative screening arrangement was required to obscure unsightly entrance and exit rampways and service areas.
A second element of the façade strategy was required to obscure the car park entrances, ramps and service areas. Here, Levolux provided its Infiniti Aluminium Aerofoil Fins in a horizontal configuration. 200mm wide aerofoils were angled at 60 degrees and fixed at a vertical pitch of 350mm.
All Infiniti fins were manufactured from extruded aluminium and coated with a natural anodised finish.
