First Fix Stub Brackets
The design focused on the reduction of solar heat gain into this £30m new school whilst maintaining a charming aesthetic. Working alongside architect Pick Everard, the design called for shading to 41 bays to effectively reduce solar heat gain through the shaded area by as much as 95%. This design reduced the need for air conditioning inside the school, reducing energy costs and carbon emissions.
Levolux provided design input and incorporated the Infiniti® aerofoil fin, Triniti® bracket and first fix stub brackets to the structure. The 900 series Infiniti® extruded aluminium aerofoil blade was set at a fixed horizontal angle and finished in a matt black polyester powder coating. The Levolux Infiniti® fins were assembled into pre-built panels in order to provide shipping and installation efficiencies.
Marc Godel – Construction Director at ROK Regal Construction Limited:
‘During the PCSA period the façade of the buildings were completely re-designed, as part of this re-design we needed to find a new solution to the solar shading to various elevations of the building. Levolux were key to this re-design working closely with the project design team, glazing and cladding contractors to find the right solution for the project’
