Levolux designed, supplied and installed its Infiniti Aluminium Aerofoil Fin solar shading system, Ligniti screening louvres and Sereniti frameless glass balustrading system at the Kays Medical development in Liverpool, UK.
This cutting edge solar shading solution was essential to facilitate the inclusion of floor to ceiling glazing along the entire 33m long south elevation. Here, the patented Infiniti secret fix fin system was installed horizontally at a pitch of 175mm to provide effective solar shading – ensuring the required light transmission whilst reducing solar heat gain and glare. Arrays of nine fins were installed to shade the first and ground floors, whilst four fins formed the shading solution for the second floor.
A one-metre wide walkway, installed behind the solar shading system on the second floor, is enclosed by Levolux’s Sereniti frameless glass balustrading system. The installed Sereniti system comprises 1200mm high panels of 25.5mm thick laminated glass, seamlessly secured using an extruded aluminium glass carrier rail and a slimline aluminium handrail.
Levolux’s Ligniti Screening Louvres were also installed to screen plant and equipment located at roof level. The inverted ‘Z’-shaped extruded aluminium louvres were fixed horizontally at a pitch of 140mm and finished in a light grey matt polyester powder coating to provide an attractive screening solution.
