Balustrades

In line with our core strategy to collaborate, we have listened to the requirements of clients, reviewed the latest guidance from Government and British Standards BS8579:2020 to develop the Sereniti modular balcony and balustrade offer. We believe in achieving solutions that are tested to relevant standards and meet with those requirements in order to maintain long term relationships with those who put their trust in us, our clients.

Our versatility and experience in bespoke solutions provides the facility to make those requirements workable and buildable whilst also challenging the design to provide efficiency and value. We also consider ‘other trade requirements’ thanks to our extensive experience of working with facades, we understand the importance of considering how our balconies interface with other elements.

DESIGN

Levolux incorporates a Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) approach for Sereniti bolt-on balconies and balustrading. In line with the UK Government’s 2025 Construction strategy, this design-led approach aims to support clients in the directive to build:

N

50% faster

N

33% lower costs

N

50% lower carbon emissions

The solution to these design challenges has been provided through a balanced and considered use of steel, aluminium (both sheet and extrusion) as well as an innovative approach to providing a design considering all areas of the off-site manufacture process.

We design our balcony solutions to also improve Quality, Health and Safety as well as consider the issue of the Labour and Skills shortage. Sereniti modular balconies are fully manufactured and assembled off site in a controlled factory environment.

This approach ensures optimal quality control and sustainability – minimising waste, mitigating health and safety risks and reducing time and cost of on-site operations.

We understand the importance of minimising the number of deliveries to site and through effective planning, we ensure the ‘just in time’ delivery of balconies to optimise the efficiency of installation whilst being mindful not to increase the carbon footprint of the balconies.

Balustrades

SERENITI Balustrade systems are ideal for projects with in situ concrete balconies that can benefit from a contemporary balustrade solution to achieve the desired quality of finish. These balconies are comprised of balustrade support rails and a choice of glass, aluminium railed or aluminium panel balustrades.

MANUFACTURE/ASSEMBLY

Manufacturing Sereniti modular balconies off-site, in a factory-controlled environment, provides numerous benefits that are also included within the DfMA approach:

  1. Health & Safety – Factory controlled environments consider the H&S protocols of the manufacture process as well as the well-being of personnel providing assembly.
  2. Labour & Skills – the component assembly process is simplified by affective design enabling the use of trained labour managed within the factory environment.
  3. Quality Control – more effectively managed in factory-controlled environments as opposed to site with multi trades.
  4. Time/Program – Factory conditions provide greater efficiency through controlled environments and the lack of uncontrollable natural factors such as weather.

Monthly Progress Reports

All Levolux installations are subjected to a robust Quality Management System, which is implemented by our construction team shown. Each project is assigned a Quality Plan, this plan is prepared based on ISO 9001 which Levolux Ltd are currently aspiring to.

The Project Quality Plan documents the procedures and processes that will be applied to a specific project to manage and control the quality delivered. This is a project specific document which is reviewed throughout the project lifecycle to ensure that the document remains current and effective.

The Inspection & Test Plan outlines and identifies the appropriate hold/inspection points. It is issued to the appropriate parties for comment/approval in the early stages of our appointment and provides a clear reference as the works progress. Check sheets are populated with all relevant documentation and photographic material to provide a comprehensive record of the completed works.

Levolux have worked with us through the design stage to find a product which suited our needs and then installed the balconies to a high standard, whilst coordinating with the site team and other contractors on site. The end result is a very high standard finish which has been complimented by all parties and stakeholders involved.

This is my second job working with Levolux and the technical input upfront is very good and we found the right fully prefabricated balconies we were after. The on-site delivery in and around Manchester with Levolux is always undertaken very professionally. My client is very pleased with the overall quality of the balconies.
